About the Role:
We are looking for a committed and passionate Qualified Social Worker to join our Looked After Children Team within Children & Families services. In this role, you will work directly with children in care to ensure their safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing. You will play a key role in assessment, care planning, and permanency planning, helping children achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of looked after children in line with statutory responsibilities
- Complete assessments, care plans, and statutory visits
- Promote placement stability and positive outcomes for children in care
- Undertake safeguarding assessments and interventions
- Work collaboratively with foster carers, families, and partner agencies
- Prepare reports for reviews, court proceedings, and statutory meetings
- Ensure compliance with UK legislation and local authority policies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England/Social Care Wales registration
- Experience within children’s social care or safeguarding teams
- Knowledge of looked after children processes and care planning
- Strong assessment and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
- Understanding of UK safeguarding legislation and frameworks
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working within a Looked After Children Team
- Experience of court work and permanency planning
- Additional training in safeguarding or child protection
