We are seeking an experienced and passionate Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join our dedicated Kinship Fostering team. This role is ideal for a social worker with experience in children’s services, fostering, or kinship care, who is committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.

As a Kinship Fostering Social Worker, you will support, assess, and supervise kinship carers (family and friends carers), ensuring placements are stable, safe, and compliant with statutory guidance and fostering regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake kinship fostering assessments (including connected persons assessments) in line with statutory frameworks
  • Provide ongoing supervision and support to kinship carers, ensuring the welfare of children is prioritised
  • Complete Form C assessments, viability assessments, and Special Guardianship (SGO) reports
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals, including local authorities, schools, and health services
  • Participate in Looked After Children (LAC) reviews, care planning, and permanency planning
  • Ensure compliance with fostering regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Deliver training, guidance, and emotional support to carers
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, reports, and documentation


Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Care Wales registration
  • Degree in Social Work (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent)
  • Experience working within children’s social care, fostering, or kinship/connected persons teams
  • Strong knowledge of UK fostering regulations, safeguarding, and child protection legislation
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work both independently and within a team
  • Full UK driving licence


Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience completing Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments
  • Background in Looked After Children (LAC) or permanency services
  • Training in trauma-informed practice or attachment theory
  • Previous work with kinship foster carers or connected persons placements
