About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Adults AMHP Social Worker to join our Adult Social Care and Mental Health Services team. As an Approved Mental Health Professional, you will assess individuals under the Mental Health Act and make decisions regarding compulsory admission where necessary. You will protect the rights, safety, and wellbeing of individuals experiencing mental health crises while ensuring lawful and person-centred practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional
- Carry out Mental Health Act assessments
- Work with Section 12 doctors and emergency services
- Manage a caseload in mental health services
- Ensure least restrictive, person-centred decisions
- Lead risk assessments and crisis planning
- Apply Mental Capacity Act principles
- Participate in AMHP rota
- Maintain accurate legal records
- Contribute to safeguarding enquiries
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Social Work England registration
- AMHP qualification
- Experience in mental health or adult social care
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act, MCA, Care Act
- Strong decision-making skills
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in CMHT settings
- Experience with tribunals and court reports
- Understanding of crisis pathways
- Experience mentoring staff
