About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Children’s and Families Assistant Team Manager to join our Support and Protect Team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a qualified social work professional who is passionate about safeguarding children and improving outcomes for vulnerable families. 

As an Assistant Team Manager, you will support the Team Manager in leading a dynamic team delivering high-quality child protection services, safeguarding interventions, and care planning across children’s social care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Team Manager in the day-to-day operational leadership of the Child Protection Team
• Provide supervision, mentoring, and performance management to social workers and support staff
• Oversee child protection investigations, risk assessments, and safeguarding plans
• Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and safeguarding procedures
• Lead on complex case management, including court proceedings and multi-agency work
• Promote best practice in safeguarding, early intervention, and family support
• Contribute to quality assurance and service improvement initiatives
• Build strong partnerships with schools, health services, police, and other agencies

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW or equivalent)
• Social Work England registration
• Significant experience in children’s social care, particularly child protection and safeguarding
• Experience of supervising or mentoring staff
• Strong understanding of legislation and safeguarding frameworks
• Excellent leadership and communication skills

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Experience as a Senior Practitioner or Deputy Team Manager
• Knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and standards
• Experience in court work and legal proceedings
• Ability to drive service improvements
