About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Manager to lead our Children & Families Child Protection and Children in Need/Court Work Team. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for delivering high-quality safeguarding services, overseeing complex court work, and driving positive outcomes for children and families.
As a Team Manager, you will provide strong leadership, management oversight, and professional supervision to a team of social workers managing CP and CIN cases, including care proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team delivering Child Protection (CP) and Children in Need (CIN) services
- Oversee complex court work, including care proceedings, statements, and legal planning
- Ensure high-quality assessments, care plans, and court reports are completed within statutory timescales
- Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management to team members
- Monitor and drive team performance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
- Work collaboratively with legal teams, police, health, education, and other partners
- Ensure compliance with Children Act, safeguarding policies, and statutory guidance
- Lead strategy discussions, case conferences, and legal planning meetings
- Manage risk effectively and ensure robust safeguarding decision-making
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Significant experience in Child Protection, CIN, and court work
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience within children’s services
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, court processes, and care proceedings
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage pressure, complex caseloads, and competing priorities
Desirable Experience:
- Experience managing a Court Work or Safeguarding Team
- Strong understanding of Public Law Outline (PLO) and pre-proceedings
- Experience working within a multi-agency safeguarding environment
