About the Role: 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Manager (TM) to lead our Duty and Assessment Team within Children & Families services. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing safeguarding practice, managing a high-performing team, and ensuring timely and effective assessments that improve outcomes for children and families. 

Key Responsibilities: 

- Lead, manage and motivate a team of social workers and practitioners within a fast-paced Duty and Assessment environment 

- Oversee the screening, triage and allocation of referrals to ensure timely responses to safeguarding concerns 

- Ensure compliance with statutory duties, legislation, and local authority safeguarding procedures 

- Provide high-quality supervision, performance management, and professional development for staff 

- Quality assure assessments, reports, and decision-making to ensure best practice 

- Promote effective multi-agency partnerships with key stakeholders including police, health, and education 

- Manage risk effectively and make complex safeguarding decisions 

- Support inspections, audits, and continuous service improvement initiatives 

Essential Requirements: 

- Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA Social Work or equivalent) 

- Registered with Social Work England 

- Significant experience in Children & Families social work, including safeguarding and duty functions 

- Proven leadership or management experience within a social work setting 

- Strong knowledge of UK legislation including the Children Act 1989 & 2004 

- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills 

Desirable Skills and Experience: 

- Experience managing Duty and Assessment teams 

- Experience working in an Ofsted-regulated environment 

- Track record of driving performance and improving service outcomes
