About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practitioner to join our Looked After Children Team within Children & Families services. This specialist role focuses on delivering high-quality social work practice, supporting children in care to achieve the best possible outcomes, and providing professional leadership within the team. You will hold complex cases, model best practice, and support the development of less experienced social workers. 

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage a complex caseload of looked after children, including court work and permanence planning 

- Provide expert advice and guidance to social workers and newly qualified staff 

- Undertake high-quality assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with statutory requirements 

- Lead on safeguarding practice and promote high standards across the team 

- Contribute to quality assurance, audits, and service improvement initiatives 

- Support training, mentoring, and supervision of colleagues 

- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to achieve outcomes for children 

- Ensure compliance with UK legislation, policies, and Ofsted standards 

Essential Skills and Experience: 

- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration 

- Significant post-qualification experience within children’s social care 

- Experience working with looked after children and care planning processes 

- Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and frameworks 

- Ability to manage complex and high-risk cases 

- Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills 

- Experience mentoring or supporting other practitioners 

Desirable Criteria: 

- Previous experience as an Advanced Practitioner or Senior Social Worker 

- Practice Educator or relevant post-qualifying awards 

- Experience of Ofsted inspections and quality assurance processes
